Health services research is a multidisciplinary field that examines access to and quality and cost of health care, focusing on research implementation in the healthcare sector and implications for healthcare policy. Health services research is tied closely to questions of equity and justice for under-resourced patients, yet it is largely associated with social and health sciences. How might humanists participate in collaborative, interdisciplinary research to act for improved access and quality of health care? This presentation highlights the role that humanists might plan in health services research through Dr. Opel’s work with community partners in the healthcare, legal, and social services sectors.
